Theme
Pretty straightforward, explore an unknown place.
The theme is ok, but I do not see the resemblance of the "unknown"
Suits the theme
Looking around a forest
Enjoyment
Very slow gameplay
Gun was weird as I could not shoot straight up (bullet came from end of the barrel but direction was determined by character body to mouse)
Difficulty
It isn't boring, but the shooting doesn't feel good - there are weird limits to where you can aim, and the projectile isn't precise. Also, the hitboxes are strange and you can get hit from further than you think. It's also easy to not notice you have been hit and hence die. Could use some way to heal.
Enjoyed but shooting can be better because I do not shoot exactly where I aim to (can't shoot exactly above me)
there's a gameplay loop at least
The collision boxes were a bit off when enemy was coming from bottom/bottom left which was frustrating, otherwise cute loop
Aesthetics
The main menu looks amazing, then in game it looks blurry (pixel art needs filtering to be 1:1 so it doesn't get blended)
I like that it has a lot of variety in art though
Music added a lot to the atmosphere. It was nicely layered with the wind sounds. The lowlight element also added eeriness. The ending was a bit disappointing, there could have been a different end screen for completing the game, perhaps even some text. Also getting three crystals from killing three identical guys felt like it was a bug or I had done something wrong, especially as the other two came from unique challenges.
The aesthetics are pretty nice and sounds are quite good. One thing I feel is that a gun does not fit into the magical area. Should be a more mystical weapon
Arts are ok, environment is good
the assets don't fit together well
jungle look
Innovation
Nothing fancy, but everything worked together.
Usual shooter, nothing to add
Bonus
Scope seems pretty big, good job
It was hard to shoot things exactly (no visual coherence between handgun and projectile) and difficult to move (the trees seemd like they had space but actually didn't) but it was a nice challenge that was just right :)
Again, the sound design worked well with the setting and intro text to create a spooky atmosphere.
Nothing to add
Nice enemy variety
